My all time favourite S/S 2009 collection !
I really love this series of ads. Models Mariacarla Boscono, Caroline Trentini and Karlie Kloss perfect the lush scene shot by Steven Klein. The clothing looks absolutely phenomenal; the boys knew what they were doing while creating these silhouettes. The best part about this is the hot, tattooed, badass of a camera woman in the background. I love that her randomness creates the perfect balance throughout this campaign.

Novo uses the sense of smell to catalyze historical memory, creating perfumes based on the combination of essences extracted from elements present at the sites of the three battles for Cuba’s independence at the end of the nineteenth century, in which the great patriotic leaders were mortally wounded by the Spanish colonial troops. The Swann Club, whose primary purpose since 1992 has been the appreciation of the shoes from Parisian brand Berluti. Over dinner and champagne, Berluti's handmade shoes are objects of intense discussion, their construction and patination meticulously dissected.

Next comes the customary removal of members' shoes and a brisk hour of hand polishing that follows strict guidelines laid down by the brand's CEO Olga Berluti (the fourth generation of Berluti to run the company). Polish is applied using pure Venetian-linen cloths. Spit is not permitted for a high gloss and is generally substituted with its natural replacement: Dom Perignon.

This prestigious trophy is awarded to the winner of the Best Film category at the Cannes Film Festival. In 1997 Pierre Viot, President of the Cannes International Film Festival, met Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele. He was so charmed by the creativity and energy of the Chopard Co-President that he asked her to redesign the Palme d’Or.

Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele proposed a new interpretation of the famous trophy awarded to the prize-winning film: a delicately curved 18ct gold stem with a small heart at its base, reminiscent of the symbol of the firm. The stem is adorned with leaves appearing to have been caught in mid-motion and it rests on a crystal cushion shaped like an emerald-cut diamond. This precious detail makes each Palme d’Or unique – for mother nature never creates identical crystals…

In 2000, this symbolic object was joined by two mini-palmes, identical replicas of the larger one which are presented to the Best Actor and Best Actress. In 2011, the Palme d’Honneur is to become a new yearly tradition. When Picasso saw the beautiful and blonde Marie-Thérèse Walter outside Galeries Lafayette
department store in Paris in 1927, he told her,

The fact that she was 16 and he was 45 and married didn't matter and she went

on to become his muse and mistress. The exhibition chronicles the life of

Marie-Thérèse and their love affair through Picasso's paintings.

Next week Chanel and Colette are launching their new project and just in time for Paris Fashion Week.
From Tuesday the two brands will join forces to open a pop-up boutique in a former garage on the Rue Saint Honoré. It will stock special pieces from both, from Chanel bags customised by Colette's favourite artists and Karl Lagerfeld dolls, to Collete's compilation CD's.
And, certain to make it an essential pit-stop for the fashion pack, there will be a Chanel nail bar and cupcakes by Chez Bogato, plus a soundtrack provided by the man who puts together the catwalk playlists for the biggest labels around, Michel Gaubert.
The pop-up store will be at 336-340 Rue Saint Honoré, Paris, from 1-10 March 2011.

In the late 1930s, the Duchess of Windsor proposed a fashionably novel and, for the time, technologically complex idea to Van Cleef & Arpels: make her a piece of jewelry that zips. More than a decade later, the duchess got her wish. “The necklace that resulted was really a kind of partnership,” says Sarah Coffin, the curator of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. “This wasn’t just a little brooch,” she says, noting the necklace’s intricacy and the intervening war, which brought French jewelry production to a near standstill. This piece and many other diamond-encrusted feats of ingenuity will be on display at the Cooper-Hewitt from Feb. 18 to June 5 as part of “Set in Style: The Jewelry of Van Cleef & Arpels.”

In addition to the American-born duchess, Van Cleef’s clients included Jackie Kennedy and Grace Kelly, whose tiara, and diamond, platinum and cultured pearl engagement set are included in the show. More recent Van Cleef converts, like Lisa Maria Falcone and Iris Cantor, loaned the museum Mystery-set pieces from their own private collections. (See Cantor’s ruby, sapphire, and diamond American Bicentennial brooch, in which matched gemstones are grooved and set in channels, rendering the setting invisible.) That said, Coffin says she hopes the glittering gems don’t outshine Van Cleef’s technical prowess. The objects are “glamorous, of course,” she says, “but you can also appreciate the fact that somebody’s actually asked, ‘What can this do?’ ”
